Accommodation
The Irish people are renowned for their hospitality and you can experience this by staying with a host family. This enables you to improve your language skills while learning about Irish culture. All host families are carefully inspected and selected by our staff. We do our utmost to place each student with the most suitable family. Family houses are located within walking distance to Tralee town centre and to our language centre. Please inform us of any special requirements you may have; allergies, diet requirements etc.
Of course we can also organise self-catering accommodation in an apartment or house. We can even book a hotel room or a stay in a local B&B.
Social & Cultural Activities
There is a myriad of things to do in Kerry so coming to study English in Ireland doesnt have to be completely serious all of the time. Horse-riding, swimming, sailing, hill-walking and football are just some of the activities available locally. If you prefer the more sedentary lifestyle, you can go shopping! Tralee has some amazing shops that will keep you busy for hours. On a more serious note, you can visit the Garden of the Senses for your leisurely stroll, you can visit the museum and educate yourself on Irish and local history. During the Summer, you can take a trip on the steam train that has been restored perfectly and transports you from Tralee to Blennerville where the Windmill is a must see. Or you can sit in the square sipping on a coffee and watching the world walk by.
For those of you who would like venture further afield, you can hop on a bus. Dingle and Slea Head are only an hour away and are among the most beautiful areas in Ireland. No trip to Ireland is complete without having a pint in one of the many friendly pubs in Dingle. On another bus you can visit Killarney which is less than an hour away. A stroll through Killarney National Park, a look around Muckross House, a climb up Torc Waterfall and a pony and trap ride through the Gap of Dunloe all await you.
In the evenings it is very important that you go to the pub! Ireland is famous for her pubs and Guinness but dont forget the people that you will meet or the craic you will have while listening to some live music. You could start the evening off with a trip to Siamsa Tíre, the National Folk Theatre, and enjoy a play or a concert. So come on! Let Celtic School of English be your gate to the perfect vision of Ireland.
